Best beach on Tenerife

In my previous post I talked about swimming pools in the Canaries, mainly Tenerife. It’s worth mentioning though that both islands also offer some great beaches. My favorite beach on Tenerife is Playa de las Teresitas. Forget about the crowded trashy resort coast in the south and head to the northeast of the island, just above Santa Cruz de Tenerife to find this amazing beach. Most beaches on Tenerife are black sand beaches. Playa de las Teresitas however is a man-made beach, with yellow-gold colored sand imported from the Sahara desert.

Free parking is available but I believe there is also a bus that runs from Santa Cruz to this beach. There are toilets, changing rooms and some basic (no mass resorts here!) food and drink (cocktails!) options available on the beach. It’s worth driving up the road further north to the viewpoint which offers a nice view of the beach and coastline.
